On February 9, 2021, Honda Performance Development listed Mountune USA as an official dealer of the limited edition Honda K20C1 Crate Engine and HPD-developed Controls Package building upon Mountune USA’s professional motorsport relationship with HPD. Mountune USA has served as the official F4 and FR America engine services provider and trackside support at all SCCA Pro F4 United States and FR Americas Championship events since January 1, 2020.
For the first time, the crate engine program is no longer exclusive to Honda Racing Line Members or race teams allowing Mountune USA to provide any driver their own Honda K20C1 HPD Crate Engine Package for racing and off-highway applications.
"The K20C1 represents the first time Honda has equipped a Type R model with a turbocharger, and it definitely delivers. Here at Mountune USA, we've spent the past few years testing and preparing these engines for various forms of motorsport use. We've analyzed engines fresh out of the crate, as well as after thousands of racing miles. The performance and reliability of the K20C1 has proven to be exceptional." Says, Tyler Hara, Head of Engineering at Mountune USA.
To celebrate the limited edition HPD K20C1 Crate Engine’s release, Mountune USA, is collaborating with performance and off-road wheel company Fifteen52, serving as the lead engineering and engine integration team for #Project96. With their intimate knowledge of the Honda K20C1 engine, Mountune USA is charged with fitting a modern Honda K20C1 engine into a Japanese Touring Car Championship inspired 1996 Honda Accord wagon.
Each Crate Engine will come with an engine long block, alternator, turbocharger, and starter motor. Included within the Controls Package will be an HPD-developed ECU, engine swap harness, and accelerator pedal. These Honda K20C1 Crate Engines are available for purchase on Mountune’s website www.mountuneUSA.com.
“We are very excited to be offering the Honda K20C1 as a Crate Engine program. We believe this advanced 2.0L Turbocharged power unit is the perfect foundation for mid level motorsport programs and with further development, would suit high power applications just as well” says Ken Anderson, President Mountune LLC (USA).
